Celtic Polytheism: Religion and Practice
By Jesse Walters
As an ancient Indo-European people, the Celts customs and beliefs are far different from those of modern times. They were a warlike people whose tribal society dominated much of Iron Age Europe in the period before the Roman Conquests. Despite being a primitive people they developed complex cultural and religious beliefs, garnering much fascination from Classical Greek and Roman historians.
The Celts first established themselves as a people around 800 B.C. as a Celtic speaking culturally unique group in the area around the Danube Basin in modern day Austria. Eventually the C

The United States of Advertising
Advertisements are everywhere. No matter how hard I try it is nearly impossible to get away from them. Advertisements can be found driving down the streets, walking in a park, watching television, and even in my home. Never before in history has any one thing been as prevalent in society as advertising is right now. So what does this say about our society and our direction as a people? Is being bombarded with so many ads a positive or negative thing for our culture?
Every year the biggest sporting event in the United States is the Super Bowl. In recent years the commercials have become the most rem
She looks across at me with that same unforgiving stare,
and for all the love I wanted to see,
not the tinniest bit was there.
She doesn't even see me,
as if I where a ghost,
I look right back into her unmoving eyes,
that girl whom I cared for most.
She told me that she cared as she slowely forgot,
and everything I had ever done for her in the end came to naught.
Now here crying I write this as a plea,
but in my ultimate misery,
this poem she won't ever see.
The poet who so idly writes,
and the soul who so idly sits.
The flame who so freely burns,
while the King so lowely spits.
Tattered shade on window pane,
whispers gently all to near.
While echoes fade in concert hall,
so deafly on the ear.
Those who call to cut and run,
they are quickly all cast out.
While in the seige the city burns,
yet the rest are too numb to shout.
Stick it to them as they slowly pass you by,
like a poster on a board.
And when the time comes you shall so lowely bow,
down before you lord.
Today was the same as yesterday,
and yesterday was the same as the day before that.
It is always the same.
The endless routine of torture in my soul.
No matter the occasion,
no matter the cause.
I have the same feeling deep inside.
The same sadness which screams to be heard.
All I can see is the bleakness of my condition,
the fragility of my consciousness.
For me hope is all but a dream,
and reality is all to real.
I have only ever been able to wish that tomorrow will be different.
Waiting for a time.
A time that the monotony of yesterday will leave me forever.
But here I sit,
and I see my life for what it is.
I see m
I have ran out of tears... no more shall the wet drops of sarrow drench my ever pale cheeks, no more shall my sobs of remorse be heard echoing through the empty halls of yore. For inside I am but a withered plant basking in the darkness, un able to blossom with the fruits of happiness and pleasure. If only but the sun would rise and lay down its gaze upon my being! O if only the rains of pleasure drench the partched ground beneath my feet! Then perhaps the day may come when all my sarrows have been washed away, shall I lift up from the earth that is my prison and take my place among my fellow man! Yet here I sit in the shackels of dispair, an
As I wander into the barren wastes,
of bitter decay, the arid air tastes,
a shattered soul on window pane,
not a bit of humanity does there remain,
in wanton fear my disposition lay,
hidden from signs of life....all light of day,
in darkest night how do I quiver,
as I pray for the spirits to bestow, to deliver,
an imalgimation beyond any thought to comprehend,
to break ones heart, to force and bend,
powers beyond my wildest dreams,
within my grasp so does it seem!,
but this journey has a deathly cost,
all my sanity is dead and lost,
so now I hide from sights I see,
an evil of wondrous intricacy,
its not a price I chose to pay,

There are three kinds of people, in a political and economic thinking sense. The first are those who are to greedy to care about the common person. The second are the ideologist who beleives that there is a possibilitly for a perfect utopian classless society. The third is the person who joins which ever side sounds better at the time and never really grasps the true meaning of either political doctarine. The few people who are outside of this are those who understand that a true classless society is impossible because not only are people easily corrupted but some one will always be doing better than the next guy. These people understand the
